The Economist Intelligence Unit, an international business intelligence firm and a unit of the Economist Group graded 127 cities on 40 indicators in 5 groups including stability, health, care, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

The survey is part of a Worldwide Cost of Living Survey and Vancouver ranked first for the second year in a row.

The top ten cities were rated as follows:

  1. Vancouver
  2. Melbourne, Australia
  3. Vienna, Austria
  4. Geneva, Switzerland
  5. Perth, Australia
  6. Adelaide, Australia
  7. Sydney, Australia
  8. Zurich, Switzerland
  9. Toronto
  10. Calgary
Not only is our city naturally beautiful, we have a strong economy, which has remained strong over the years due to diversification away from natural resources.

Vancouver is now a major business seaport, the third largest film centre next to LA and New York and we are still growing. According to the GVRD we can expect another one million people living in the Lower Mainland by 2031.
